Welcome. We are a small, family run horticultural nursery that specializes in growing the more unusual ferns, shrubs and perennials for shade. Our plants are generally hardy and require, prefer or tolerate shady garden conditions. Shady conditions include full, part or dappled shade, moist or dry shade, and shade where the soil is acid, neutral or alkaline.
The plants we offer are mostly propagated on our nursery but some, like ferns, are bought in as propagules and grown on. MacGregors Plants for Shade is able to assist in sourcing shade plants, which can then be added to enhance and expand our own list. We arrange deliveries locally and a mail order service for other more distant customers.

Opening. At present we are only able to open by appointment. When you have ordered plants from our nursery we will be happy to see you when you come to collect them.
Whilst we take great care to ensure the safety and well being of all visitors we would like to stress that this is a working nursery and all visits are at customer's own risk.

Plant lists. Plants are listed alphabetically and can be accessed from the menu. In time we will be adding more sections to allow a more sophisticated search of our list.
