Lamium galeobdolon Hardy, very invasive perennial to 40cm, with green leaves often marked silver. Whorls of brown spotted yellow flowers are produced in summer. Grow in poor, well-drained soils in deep or part shade. Site carefully for good ground cover, and dig out rhizomes to restrict spread.
Lamium maculatum 'Pink Pewter' Hardy, mat forming perennial to 20cm, with silver leaves narrowly margined green. Clear pink flowers appear from June to August. Grow in not too rich, well-drained soil in full or part shade. Excellent ground cover.
Lamium orvala Hardy, non-invasive clump forming perennial to 40-50cm, with toothed, hairy dark green leaves. Spikes of whorled pinkish-purple flowers are produced from late spring to summer. Grow in not too rich, well-drained soil in full or part shade.
